Mr Majeekas
'Mr Majeekas' are a three piece band from Bognor Regis whose original, freeform, alternative, indie, grunge style of music is beginning to stir up interest among several record labels. 'Mr Majeekas' formed during 1998, and have since released two lo-fi analogue albums, 'Some Songs By Us' (1999), and 'Cowboys Are Elusive' (2000), which established a sizeable cult following in the local area. The three members of the band are Andy Phipps, Matt Powell, and Dave Stobbs. Andy is the vocalist and percussionist for the band, and sometimes plays the acoustic guitar and the keyboard too. Matt is the lead guitarist for the band, and Dave is the bassist. The band's new album 'Robots Eat My Face' is scheduled to be released during early September this year (see their website for details). |

Matt is the lead guitarist for Mr Majeekas and cites his major influences as being Grandaddy, Beck, and Dandy Warhols. Dave is the bassist, and cites his influences as being Nirvana, RATM, and Green Day. |
[35] Some Songs By Us
This was the first album to be released by Mr Majeekas, back in 1999. Recorded on a four-track mixer, partly held together with a pencil, it includes some very good songs despite the lo-fi quality. It contains early versions of 'Stop the Bus', 'Odd Socks', and 'Eugene', songs which were eventually re-recorded as part of the 'I Wish I Was A Bibliobus' demo and which stirred up interest from Polydor. |

[36] Cowboys Are Elusive
This was Mr Majeekas second album, again recorded on a four-track. It contains early versions of several other songs that made it onto the 'I Wish I Was A Bibliobus' EP, 'Elmo Plays Guitar', 'Pesky Meddling Kids', 'Nothing Personal', and 'The Fear of Electric Drumkits'. |
[37]
Mr Majeekas alternative style of music has meant that they have found it hard to arrange gigs around Bognor Regis, and so their live performances have been limited so far. |
